Covid-19 – acute respiratory infection caused by SARS-CoV-2, a virus out of the large family of different coronaviruses
Causes: severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)
Symptoms: (one or more of the following): cough, sore throat, sneezing, fatigue, runny nose, shortness of breath, losing the ability to smell; with or without fever; mild or no symptoms in some patients
Diagnostic tests: swab from mouth, throat or back of the nose; sputum test
Treatment: (depending on symptoms): rest, fluids, medication to reduce fever, oxygen, breathing support (CPAP mask or ventilator)
