A monograph series devoted to descriptive surveys and sociolinguistic analyses of English in its global context. It contains outstanding, often award-winning studies by individual authors as well as high-profile collected volumes. Both showcase the regional, social, stylistic, and diachronic variation characterizing English today, paying attention not just to theoretical and methodological debates in the field but also to the language’s colonial history as well as the postcolonial discourses surrounding it.
