Sibling influence on morphological development?

Turkish-speaking monolingual children who had a twin sibling, and singleton children without siblings were compared at age 2;0 in terms of their morphological complexity. Children in two groups were balanced according to their birth weight and gestational age. The difference observed between the two groups was attributed to twin children’s exposure to their sibling’s language rather than the disadvantages due to “triadic” interaction patterns observed in twin homes. Singletons with older siblings and twins were further contrasted in terms of their speech as well as their siblings’ speech and the findings supported the results.
