Various people and institutions made this book possible, directly and indirectly. First of all, I would like to express my
sincere thanks to Professor Michael Bamberg for providing me with the opportunity to publish this book in the Studies in
Narrative series.
I want to thank the (Polish) Ministry of Science and Higher Education that supported the Mobility Plus program for “The
involvement of culture-relevant factors in the process of business intercultural communication in a multinational environment”
(2016–2017; Grant no. 1310/MOB/IV/2015/0) in the Department of Management, Society and Communication (MSC) in Copenhagen Business
School (CBS). I want to thank CBS for granting full access to all the infrastructure in the MSC department. My special thanks go to
Professor Anne-Marie Søderberg from CBS who introduced me to the fascinating world of narrative research and was always ready to share
her expertise during our countless meetings and lunches.
I would also like to express my gratitude to Professor Arkadiusz Gut for organizing data collection logistics. Another
“thank you” goes to my informant who helped me recruit the interviewees and hosted them at her place of residence. I would like to
thank all the interviewees who made these studies possible through their participation. I am grateful to you for sharing your personal
experiences with me and for providing me with an opportunity to learn about the fascinating aspects of your lives and work both in
China and Poland.
Finally, I would like to thank my dear family for supporting me in this scientific endeavor. Special thanks go to my
parents who have opened up the world of education to me. Thank you so much for your love and support. Special thanks go to my wife and
two daughters for showing a lot of understanding for my work on the book and for accompanying me on my international fellowship. I
believe this experience has developed our own desire for intercultural learning.
