Acknowledgments

This volume contains ten chapters based on contributed papers and three keynote addresses that were presented at the Thirty-First Annual Symposium on Arabic linguistics at the University of Oklahoma in 2017. All contributed papers presented at the symposium were selected after abstract submission and anonymous peer review. After the symposium, a call for book chapters went out to all participants. Manuscripts, including those submitted by the keynote speakers, were then subject to anonymous peer-review and often went through a process of revision and resubmission. Only a subset of all submissions were accepted for publication. We are thankful to the reviewers for their assistance and to the Arabic Linguistics Society board for facilitating the process. We are especially thankful to the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost of the University of Oklahoma, the College of International and Area Studies, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of International and Area Studies, and the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Linguistics at the University of Oklahoma. They all allocated financial resources to make the Thirty-First Annual Symposium on Arabic Linguistics possible.
