The 35th Annual Symposium on Arabic Linguistics was held at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. I thank all the supporters of the conference who made it possible to hold this international conference in hybrid format for the first time in the 35-year history of the symposium. At Georgetown University, I thank the College of Art and Sciences, the Humanities Initiative, the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, The Department of Linguistics, and the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. I also thank the Arabic Linguistic Society for working with me to make the conference happen despite the challegnes we experienced during the pandemic. I am also grateful to the reviewers of the papers that were submitted to be considered in this volume for their time, expertise and feedback, which was instrumental to the rigourous double-blind peer review process that led to revising, resubmitting and eventually accepting nine of the papers that were submitted.
