It is hard to believe that the journey we embarked on over three years ago has ended. The journey was inspired by the work of our mentor Merrill Swain but was the brainchild of Wataru Suzuki. After some gentle persuasion, Neomy Storch joined along. Overall, it has been a most enjoyable and professionally rewarding journey for us both, providing us with opportunities to engage in lots of languaging, oral, written, self-directed, or collaborative, with a wonderful group of colleagues all over the globe.
We would like to express our gratitude to all those who have helped us during various phases of creating this edited volume.
