This book has been in the making for quite some time, dating to a colloquium that gathered all the contributors at the American Association for Applied Linguistics in Toronto in 2015. First and foremost, we thank Diane Larsen-Freeman for her life-time work and caring mentorship and, in particular, for her inspirational contributions to the fields of second language acquisition and applied linguistics, which this book aspires to honor.
