This paper focuses on three Ancient Greek constructions, which have the
same surface structure N0 ékhein N1 en N2, but different lexical, semantic and
syntactic features. The aim of the study is to give an account of these differences
by investigating: (a) the value of both the prepositional phrase and the noun
phrases occurring in the clauses; (b) the relationship between syntactic functions
and lexical-semantic features. The investigation is corpus-based and follows the
Lexicon-Grammar approach. On the one hand, results are expected to contribute
to the debate on the interaction between lexical categories and syntactic functions;
on the other hand, they wish to provide analyses of Ancient Greek constructions,
in order to stimulate reflections on the diachrony of the Greek language.
