Les proverbes français et italiens dans la communication orale

Le cas des discours interprétés au Parlement européen

Résumé
Cet article se propose d’étudier les proverbes italiens et français les plus fréquents dans les discours des séances plénières du Parlement européen (PE) de 2014 à 2022. Après avoir présenté une méthodologie de repérage corpus-driven des proverbes appliquée à deux corpus de référence français et italien (frWaC et itWaC) et aux séances plénières du PE, nous analysons quelques exemples de proverbes énoncés dans les discours des plénières. Nous examinons ainsi leur gestion en interprétation simultanée (IS) de l’italien vers le français et prenons en compte un exemple de multimodalité liée à l’énonciation des proverbes, pour nous interroger sur son traitement en IS.
Abstract
This paper will analyse the most frequent French and Italian proverbs in speeches at plenary sessions of the European Parliament (EP) from 2014 to 2022.
After illustrating the methodology used in corpus-driven extraction of proverbs in French and Italian reference corpora (frWaC and itWaC) and in plenary sessions of the EP, some examples of proverbs in speeches at plenary sessions will be analysed in order to see how the EP staff interpreters deal with them in simultaneous interpreting (SI) from Italian into French. Furthermore, the multimodal dimension of proverbs and its management in SI will be discussed.
