Résumé
Le conditionnel comme l’auxiliaire devoir, dans certains emplois, peuvent signifier l’évidentialité indirecte dans sa double dimension : inférentielle et reportive. Différents travaux ont étudié l’une ou l’autre forme dans l’un ou l’autre de ces emplois. Le présent article est consacré à la comparaison des valeurs évidentielles inférentielles d’une part, et reportives d’autre part, développées par ces deux formes.
Abstract
Conditional and auxiliary devoir (‘must’) in French, same evidential functions?
The conditional and the auxiliary devoir, in some of their uses, express inferential and reportive evidentiality. Several studies on evidentiality have investigated one or the other unit in one use or the other. This paper compares the conditional and devoir in their inferential and reportive uses.
