In this paper, I argue that the uninflected complements of verbs of perception in Basque are aspectual phrases (AspPs), adapting a proposal by Felser (1998, 1999) to the specific properties of Basque perception complements. With that aim in mind, I will first describe the basic syntactic and semantic properties that non-inflected perception verb complements have in Basque. Then, I will critically review some of the previous proposals that have been entertained for the analysis of those contructions in that language. Finally, I will show that Felser’s analysis, once some of the specific morphosyntactic properties of Basque are factored out, represents the best possible account of the structure of those complements.
