Transferring cultural references in sports and music entertainment domains of bilateral interpretation

Abstract
The paper focuses on sports and music entertainment areas of bilateral interpretation in the Russian-Spanish language pair. The research consists of an observational part and an experimental study on communicative strategies and the impact that cultural references have on the quality and the evaluation of the interpreters’ performance. The results proved that interpreters face certain difficulties when extracting cultural references from the source text and transferring them to the target text. Two bilateral interpretation audios are prepared so that semi-experts and experts can evaluate their quality. The analysis shows that understanding and adequate use of cultural references in sports and music entertainment domains of bilateral interpretation can be considered a way of establishing successful communication between the involved parties.

Transferencia de referencias culturales en los ámbitos del deporte y el entretenimiento musical de interpretación bilateral
Este trabajo se centra en la interpretación bilateral en los ámbitos de entretenimiento deportivo y artístico-musical en las lenguas ruso/español. La investigación abarca un estudio observacional y otro experimental centrado en las estrategias comunicativas y el impacto que tienen las referencias culturales en la percepción de calidad y en la evaluación del desempeño de los intérpretes. Los resultados muestran que los intérpretes tienen dificultad al extraer del discurso origen y transferir al discurso meta las referencias culturales. A partir de la categorización de las estrategias comunicativas se preparan dos audios para que semiexpertos y expertos evalúen su calidad. Los resultados indican que la comprensión y el uso adecuado de referencias culturales pueden considerarse una forma de establecer una comunicación exitosa entre las partes involucradas.
