Abstract
This work aims to present the image of Macedonian territory and the concept of language which emerged as an idea in the end of 19th and very beginning of 20th century, but have very significant continuation in the first half of 20th century. From this image and from this concept emanates the current idea that Macedonians have of themselves, the prevailing contemporary historical discourse, which significantly diverges from the historical reality of the Balkans.
