Abstract
This programmatic text constitutes an unconventional theoretical approach to the linguistic fact, the foundation of the languages existence, the processes with which they have been constituted historically, the functions that correspond to them and the emotional implications that they always have for speakers.
Written for the purpose of an academic “ultima lectio” at the university, it becames a synthesis of the work and the often cross-disciplinary reflections that its author has carried out for years in the field of languages, and a starting point for innovative speculations, both in the field of linguistic theory and, more particularly, in that of studies on the Catalan language and its internal and territorial articulation.
