Abstract
Ductility is a characteristic of myth: provided that its fixed
core isn’t altered, every kind of transformation is possible within it.
Thus, the well-known oedipian myth in Sophocles’ version can be traced with
changes in Woody Allen’s Oedipus rex. Perhaps because it
belongs to the film New York Stories this version has been
unregarded by critics. The wicked Greek hero becomes another wicked one: the
Jew.
