Abstract
Terminology planning in Greece is affected not only by the long history of the Greek language
itself but also by several challenges which have appeared in the modern times. On the one hand, the lack of
coordinated and collaborative terminology work and on the other hand terminological variation affect any terminology
planning actions and vice versa. Although terminology has its place in Greece, it seems that for terminology planning
to grow stronger roots it is necessary to work in collaborative terms, to increase public awareness and to embrace
modernization. A crucial step though in this direction is the recognition of the need for coordinated terminology
planning in Greece.
