Abstract
This article presents the development of Slovenian terminology and terminology planning. Today,
terminology work in Slovenia is mainly carried out by the Department of Terminology of the ZRC SAZU Fran Ramovš
Institute of the Slovenian Language. However, various other institutions, from government institutions to professional
associations, deal with terminology in their work as well. This article also evaluates language policy documents
involving terminology planning and their implementation in practice. In addition, it tackles the challenges of
globalization and efforts to ensure that Slovenian terminology remains fully functional in the future.
