Looking for Lexical Patterns in a Trilingual Corpus of Source and Interpreted Speeches

Abstract/Résumé
Cet article concerne une importante recherche menée sur le corpus EPIC (European Parliament Interpreting Corpus), soit un recueil de 9 sous-corpus contenant des transcriptions de discours originaux et les versions correspondantes interprétées en trois langues (anglais, italien et espagnol). Les auteurs examinent ici les patterns lexicaux présents dans des discours de départ prononcés en espagnol et dans des discours d’arrivée interprétés en espagnol (de l’anglais et de l’italien), en se penchant notamment sur la densité lexicale (exprimée en termes de nombre de paroles lexicales rapporté au total des paroles contenues dans chaque sous-corpus) et sur la variété lexicale (exprimée en pourcentage représenté par les 100 paroles les plus fréquentes dans chaque sous-corpus). Cette méthodologie a été utilisée par Laviosa pour étudier les patterns lexicaux observés dans des textes anglais écrits (originaux et traductions). Les résultats obtenus à partir de nos sous-corpus espagnols sont comparés avec ceux de Laviosa ainsi qu’avec les résultats d’une étude que nous avons déjà menée sur le matériel du corpus EPIC en anglais et en italien. Ainsi, EPIC a été examiné en tant que corpus à la fois comparable et parallèle. Les patterns lexicaux complexes, observés lors denotre recherche, permettent de mieux comprendre le rôle joué par la modalité de la traduction (traduction écrite vs interprétation simultanée), par la combinaison linguistique et par la direction de l’interprétation, c’est-à-dire à partir de quelle langue et en quelle langue se fait l’interprétation.
