Abstract/Résumé
The relative lack of engagement of translation studies scholars with scientific translation can be explained by a number of factors. In contrast, the role of translation, independently of the extent to which it is acknowledged, underpins much of the work which belongs to the history of ideas.
Drawing on the specific instance of transmission of mathematical knowledge through translation, the paper will argue that translation studies can draw on scientific discourse to help identify issues of interest to translation research.
