A Discourse on Student-centered Translator Education

Abstract/Résumé
Discours sur l’enseignement de la traduction centré sur les étudiants. Si le professeur jouait un rôle central dans l’enseignement de la traduction dans le passé, c’est moins le cas aujourd’hui. L’enseignement de la traduction est en effet de plus en plus centré sur les étudiants. L’objectif de ce travail est d’examiner l’évolution de ce changement à l’aide de diverses études réalisées sur l’éducation. Pour cela, nous examinerons d’abord les pratiques pédagogiques envisagées par les institutions afin de mettre en oeuvre ce type d’enseignement. Surtout, nous discuterons de l’intérêt de l’utilisation du « journal de la traduction » dans lequel les étudiants peuvent signaler les points sur lesquels ils ont réfléchi, les difficultés rencontrées et leurs solutions pour communiquer avec le professeur, au lieu d’un simple texte traduit dans le cadre du cours. Nous montrerons également que les étudiants arrivent à comprendre, en apprenant les théories et les stratégies de traduction, le fait qu’un texte peut être traduit de diverses manières. Aujourd’hui, d’un étudiant à l’autre, les parcours diffèrent souvent. Cela nous amène à traiter le sujet de l’apprentissage auto-dirigé (self-directed learning) qui permet d’élaborer des méthodes d’apprentissage en fonction de l’orientation, l’objectif et l’état d’avancement de chaque étudiant. Nous nous pencherons aussi sur les nouvelles méthodes d’évaluation proposées, par rapport à celles qui imposent un critère standard défini. Enfin, nous étudierons l’approche socio-constructiviste qui suscite beaucoup d’intérêt dans le domaine de l’enseignement de la traduction. À travers cette présente étude, nous espérons attirer l’attention sur l’enseignement de la traduction centré sur les étudiants et donner lieu à de fructueux débats afin d’améliorer notre discipline.
