Abstract/Résumé
Cet article aborde une des questions les plus contestées et polémiques qui affectent la théorie et la pratique de la traduction, à savoir, la question théorique de la traduisibilité et de l’intraduisibilité. On présente un historique et une analyse critique des diverses approches sur la possibilité ou l’impossibilité de la traduction. On fait référence aux deux positions opposées adoptées par les philosophes du langage et les théoriciens de la traduction: le relativisme (ou monadisme) et l’universalisme. On prête une attention spéciale aux problèmes de la traduction, en analysant et en exemplifiant convenablement (i) les difficultés linguistiques, extra-linguistiques et culturelles, (ii) les différents types d’équivalences entre les deux langues, et (iii) les principales classes de realia, qui ont toujours été supposées être un défi pour la traduction. On réfléchit, finalement, sur la question, en justifiant qu’on ne peut parler d’intraduisibilité totale, ni de traduisibilité totale, surtout dans le cas des aspects stylistiques ou des termes culturels.
