An Empirical Study

Cet article porte sur le phénomène d’allongement des textes d’arrivée par rapport aux textes de départ. Cette étude empirique, basée sur 49 traductions realisées par les traducteurs professinnels, a pour but de vérifier si ce phénomène existe réellement comme l’a été suggéré par des études traductoligiques existantes, et si c’est le cas, quelles sont les paramètres influençant ce phénomene. L’accent a été mis sur une éventuelle corrélation entre la typologie des textes et l’allongement, et le caractère culturel d’un texte et la longueur du texte. La première partie de cette article présente les recherches préalablement menées, quoi que limitées, sur ce sujet. Dans la deuxième partie sont expliqués l’objectif, les hypothèses et les méthodes de collectes et d’analyse des données et du corpus. La troisième partie qui constitue le noyau de cette article, présente les résultats de ces analyses. En conclusion, si le sens de la traduction, la typologie des textes et le caractère culturel constituent les facteurs importants pour expliquer l’allongement des textes traduits, des recherches supplémentaires doivent venir les compléter pour expliquer pleinement ce phénomène.
