Education and our conversations about, with and through technology

This discussion of technology in education considers three aspects of dialogue. The first is a subtle dialogue where students and teachers negotiate the impact of the tacit knowledge inherent in the technology. Any technology carries a bias and has metaphors embedded in both the design and practical use. The second is the conversation we engage in as we try to shape the technology to do our bidding, and as we adapt to what the technology wants us to do. The third idea focuses on how we carry on our conversations with others through the technology and how the medium influences the message. The underlying question is how do we use the technology to move beyond fact gathering to deeper thinking?
