Geopolitics and Activism in Children’s and Young Adult
Literature emerges from our commitment to understanding the role of
children’s literature in doing justice to the increasingly complex lifeworlds of the
current young generations and in particular in supporting diverse forms of their
agency. We thank the contributors for their generous willingness to share their
expertise in national children’s literatures close to their hearts, as well as for
their rich theoretical insights. Their trust, patience, and consistent timeliness
have been invaluable throughout the process of shaping this volume. We are also
immensely grateful to the editors of John Benjamins Children’s Literature, Culture,
and Cognition series for their precious advice and supportive guidance. Finally, we
extend our sincere appreciation to the reviewers, whose constructive comments
greatly strengthened this collection.
