The status of copular constructions expressing quantification, such as “le prix est (de) 15 euros) is examined with respect to prototypical specificational constructions (Le prix est quinze euros) and to predicational constructions involving quantification. It appears that the copular construction expressing quantification ([NP_Cop_de_Q NP]) is a hybrid construction combining properties of both specificational and predicational copular constructions. In this sense, and according to the inheritance network advocated by Construction Grammar, ([NP_Cop_de_Q NP]) inherits features from both the specificational (e.g. the relationship between NP1 and NP2) and the predicational construction, but also develops its own idiosyncrasy.
