Abstract
This article investigates the popularization of developmental psychology literature on online
social media (OSM) through interlingual, intralingual, and intersemiotic translation. More specifically, it explores
how various types of translation are instrumental in creating and maintaining a transmedial network of parenting
information. It problematizes the mismatch between the aesthetic and ideological fragmentation of content on OSM, on
the one hand, and the illusion of universalism that some content creators uphold, on the other. The empirical data are
derived from selected Instagram accounts, in English and in Turkish, where child psychologists and other professionals
provide guidance in multimedia format, usually drawing on scholarly texts.
