Scott Montgomery, a consulting geologist and independent scholar, has written a number of panoramic interdisciplinary books dealing with science and its transmission, including The Scientific Voice (1996), Science in Translation: Movements of Knowledge Through Cultures and Time (2000), and A History of Science in World Cultures: Voices of Knowledge (forthcoming, with Alok Kumar, 2016). And he is not unknown in Translation Studies, having contributed a chapter on “scientific translation” to the Handbook of Translation Studies (2010).
