In the summer of 2022, Lily Robert-Foley, whom I had never met, was in the final stage of revising her book Experimental Translation when she heard that I had a forthcoming book titled The Experimental Translator. She panicked, she reported to me later: a book with almost the same title as hers, already going into production. Had I already said everything she wanted to say? Was all her hard work wasted?
