目次

再翻訳retranslation（翻訳の成果物としての）とは、ある起点テクスト（ST）から一つの目標言語（TL）に翻訳されたもので、再度同じTLで出された翻訳を指す。したがって再翻訳をプロセスとして見れば、通常は一定の期間をおいて生じる現象であるといえるが、実際には同時並行あるいはそれに近い形で行われる翻訳もあり、どちらを初訳とするか区別が難しい場合や、区別が不可能な場合もある。重訳やリレー翻訳も再翻訳の枠組みに含まれると論じる研究者もいるが、再翻訳という用語に重訳やリレー翻訳という意味を持たせて用いることは、有用であるどころか誤解のおそれのほうが高い。この論文では再翻訳という用語を、ある目標言語への複数の翻訳の意としてのみ用いる。
