Çeviri ve her türlü güç yapısı arasındaki ilişkiler, son yıllarda akademik alanda büyük ilgi uyandırdı. Çeviribilimdeki "güç dönüşü", hem siyasete, kültüre ve topluma odaklanan daha geniş kapsamlı araştırmalarla bağlantılıdır hem de çeviri ve toplumsal cinsiyet, sömürgecilik sonrası kuram ve çeviri etiğine dair tartışmalarla ilişki içindedir (bkz. Çeviribilimde dönüşler). Bu makale, güç ve çeviri üzerine yapılan araştırmaları, çeviribilim alanıyla ve bu alanın da ötesine geçen daha geniş söylemlerle bağlantılandırarak anlamaya çalışmaktadır.
