Depuis l’identification des aires cérébrales responsables du traitement du langage, les chercheurs se sont concentrés sur les processus neurocognitifs sous-jacents à l’écoute/compréhension et à la production de la parole, dans le but de comprendre le fonctionnement de la cognition humaine et du traitement du langage (voir Approches cognitives ).
