Terminology planning in need of recognition: The Greek case

Table of contents

Terminology has its place in Greece. Several associations conduct terminological work in various domains (cf. Valeontis et al. (2025 — in print)). However, it seems that coordinated terminology planning actions are still wishful thinking. A full recognition of the need for a national terminology policy has not yet been achieved. There are still several challenges to deal with in relation to terminology planning in Greece. The lack of coordinated and collaborative terminology work, as well as terminological variation in the form of a number of synonyms, at least in some specialised languages, are two parameters that influence and in effect reduce any terminology planning actions.
